zoomtastic outfits
A big factor in our lives right now. .
Whether it’s Zoom, Skype or FaceTime, never has our top half been more analysed.
Consider the room to suit the zoom!
I have all my work meetings in my office. This keeps my attitude professional and it will limit any interruptions with family as I close the door.
If you don’t have an office, pick a corner with good lighting away from family members.
Make sure the back of you is tidy (no drunken festival photos behind!) bookshelves, pianos, uncluttered walls work best.
For informal zooms pick another setting in your home. I always use my bedroom for a quiet catch ups and my kitchen for informal zooms with family.
Consider what you are sitting on
If you are zooming sat at your desk, your posture will be better and the image less slouchy.
Sofa posture for work meetings can be unflattering - You’ll be tilted back, so you are likely to create double chins and look too relaxed for the meet up.
You may also run the risk of looking showing too much boob with a sofa slouchy angle.
Kitchen tables, kitchen stools are fun for cocktail catch up and quiz and family social events.
Consider make up & hair
Yes, brush your hair and do your make up. But you don’t have to over do it.
Lighter coloured lipgloss, bit of blusher, so you look fresh but no need for presentation eyeliner!
Hair to be kept simple whether you wear it up or down.
Avoid huge hair bands, big top nots as these will look odd on video.
Consider your clothes
Being at home doesn’t mean we have to slouch in leisurewear for all zoom calls.
Adopt the same attitude to choosing your outfit as you would a real life situation, then tone it down a bit.
So a bit a tailoring may work for a professional meeting but you don’t have to put on the full suit or tailored work dress.
Ultimately colleagues, friends want to see the real you (but not the I’ve just got out of bed you).
Colour is so important. Pick a colour that suits your complexion and highlights your face.
Print is ok but keep it simple to your style.
Avoid fussy tops, ruffles, frills and fabric that creases.
I am a big fan of a simple top and blazer.
Need some Style Scenarios?
I chose this spotty jersey polo neck as plain black or plain white may look a bit dull. The Spots add a bit of personality.
The style of the polo is comfortable to wear, not low cut and a tidy garment that doesn’t crease.
I added a light pink blazer to soften the style. A red one would have felt too dynamic.
Sleek tidy hair, light make up keep my face fresh.
I kept my earrings on (as its me!) but you could limit this to avoid them distracting.

I am regularly meeting up with groups of business people that I don’t know.
Nothing too formal but not too casual either.
I have chosen this simple silky style blouse in this glorious green.
If you want to be remembered pick a colour that really suits your personality.
Keep your top half a work style top, nothing too casual - you are selling your business after all!
A stronger lipstick for this colour works better and I’ve added my red glasses.

I love my prints, so this jersey printed dress is brilliantly comfortable to throw on.
Hair is happy tied back in a bun too.
The overall look is friendly, jolly and approachable.

Yes, that’s the meet up with your girlfriend(s), siblings for a quick drink and catch up.
Throw on the mad earrings or frilly blouse.
Bright lipstick instantly gets me from slouchy to dressy in a matter of seconds!
I take all these social zooms in our kitchen so other family members can get involved.
