Your denim dilemmas solved.
I want jeans that flatter my curves.
Go for a softer denim with some stretch. A wide length flared leg will balance out your hips. Try a mid to high rise to sit over your tummy. You’ll feel more confident tucking in. Elastic waist styles are very popular this season and perfect for those of you who suffer from daily bloating or post op.
Good brands to try: Mango, M&S, Cos, ASOS curve.
I struggle with finding jeans to suit my long legs.
This season the wide length voluminous flare is so popular (only a tall person can really wear!) Or a high rise straight leg will look brilliantly classic on a long leg. Long legs look fantastic in these seasons cropped flare or try a slim flared jean.
Brands to try: M&S, Mint Velvet, Bauken, ME&EM, Jigsaw, Levis.
I’m small and curvy, what jeans could I try?
Don’t be fooled by the models on the website. The crop flare is a popular style this season and if you are petite a high waist crop flare looks like a perfect kick flare on you (that is not cropped!). These Cos jeans were very flattering to wear on me and I could wear a flat shoe.
Try a slim flare in a short. The flare at the bottom with even out your hips. A slim boyfriend is flattering relaxed style worn mid rise with little turn ups to show your ankles.
Brands to try: Whistles, Cos, M&S, Mint Velvet.
I want a trend focused modern fit.
Modern styles to try this season are the barrel or the tapered cut. High on the waist and fitted on the bottom, with a wider balloon style leg that tapers in. Sounds scary, but actually the tapered leg is a flattering cut and works well with your birkenstocks or your kitten heel.
Brands to try: Whistles, Cos, Arket, Monki.
I love a skinny but want to try something new flatters my slim legs
Pick a slim fit or a relaxed skinny rather than a skinny. These will flatter your slim legs but look more like a straight leg on you. If you want something a bit different, try Mint Velvets Skinny Biker.
Good brands to try: Cos, French Connection, Mint Velvet, Zara.
I want to feel confident wearing a cream/white denim.
A cream or off white is a modern colour to wear denim this season. It is important that you go for a good quality denim to avoid showing underwear! Rather than a tight fit, try a relaxed looser style that feels comfortable but looks classic.
Good brands to try: Massimo Dutti or Mint Velvet.
I want a creative artistic style that doesn’t look too young.
Denim with embroidery, patches and prints are showstopper jeans that you can wear year on year. Good to dress down or wear in the evening with a blazer and heel. For a grown up arty style, avoid any jeans that are ripped or bleached, instead go for texture and prints. I love Anthropologie Pilcro jeans, the fit is flattering - an arty style without trying too hard.
Good brands to try: Anthropologie, M&S.
I’m bored of blue jeans, where can I find colourful jeans?
A colourful pastel or new modern neutral tan will instantly update your summer denim style. Choose a colour that best suits your personality and wardrobe. Try subtle soft yellows and lilacs or be bold in fresh greens and hot pinks.
Good brands to try: Zara, Mango, Mint Velvet.
