5 WAYS TO WEAR

As your stylist, I will always ask you ‘ Can we create 5 outfits with that new garment?’ - if the answer is no…..then do you really need it?

Is it going to cost you more to make it work?

I’ve been celebrating my skirts this week and sharing with my lovely private facebook group The Secret Stylist Style Squad (join up! they are lovely!) on how versatile skirts can be if you have the right type in your wardrobe to suit your life now.

1.Purchase styles that suit your lifestyle.

I very rarely buy pencil skirts as I find these hard to dress down. I also feel a bit too dressed up when I wear them - they don’t suit my lifestyle. Instead, I go for a midi skirt that I can chuck on with trainers, glam up with a heel and wear with a bare leg and sandal as the weather improves. Think about your lifestyle - will this skirt suit it?

2. Choose friendly fabrics.

I love a skirt that I can wear all day for work, walk the dogs with my wellies and cook dinner in. If it is too fragile, it will stop me from wearing it - so if you want to wear more skirts, pick a friendly fabric that you can throw in the washing machine with the school clothes.

3. Pick colourful prints.

A skirt with lots of colours (muted or bright) will give you more flexibility to adapt with other coloured tops. You will see below just how many varieties of looks I can achieve with just one skirt - and I know there will be plenty more to try as the weather improves.

4. Utility skirts are a must!

Make sure you own a utility skirt that can be replace your jeans. A denim skirt, a cotton khaki skirt or I’ve got a wonderful paper bag cotton tabacco skirt that I wear all year casually.

5. Can you glam up?

Dressing down the skirt for me is always very important but having a few glam looks is exciting too …just in case I ever get asked out!

Here are 5 ways to wear with a skirt from Kettlewell Colours.
